Overview

Time Island is a time-tracking tool built around on-device storage. Our principle is simple: your records belong only to you.

Records and Temporary Live Activity Data

Time Island does not require an account. Apart from optional features you actively use (weather, AI features, and the Dynamic Island companion push service, each described below), your items, plans, historical time records, and settings are not uploaded to the developer. The app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.

If the Live Activity companion-motion service is enabled while a timer is running, the app temporarily sends the displayed item name, start time, companion state, and the APNs push token limited to that Live Activity to the developer-operated push service. This information is used only to update the companion on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, never for advertising, analytics, or tracking. It is deleted when the activity stops, the token becomes invalid, or after no more than 8 hours.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Items you create, plans you schedule, time records, and settings are stored only on your device. The Live Activity push service keeps only the short-lived activity information listed above; it does not retain your plans, historical records, settings, location, account, or device identifier. AI features transmit only the content described in “AI Features and Your Data,” only when you use them, and nothing is stored on the server.

Weather and Location Data (Optional)

After you grant location access, the app obtains your current location and sends latitude and longitude rounded to four decimal places directly to Open-Meteo. This is used to fetch local current weather and adjust the sky background. Time Island does not store your coordinates; weather results are cached only on your device.

Open-Meteo may log IP addresses and geographic coordinates for server maintenance, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting. These logs may be retained for up to 90 days. See https://open-meteo.com/en/terms for details.

AI Features and Your Data (Optional)

The app offers optional AI scheduling and AI analysis features. Requests are relayed through the developer’s proxy server to the third-party AI provider DeepSeek, which supplies the large language model. Before your first use, the app shows a consent dialog explaining what is sent; data is transmitted only after you agree. If you decline, nothing is sent.

AI scheduling sends the arrangement you spoke or typed, your item category names, and any AI personal memory you have enabled. AI analysis sends the finished records for the selected day and a 7-day category summary. Each request includes a randomly generated identifier used only for usage counting and abuse prevention. Your name, account, location, and in-progress records are never sent.

This content is used only to generate the result returned to you — never for advertising, profiling, or tracking. The developer’s proxy server only relays requests and counts usage; it does not store your content. We only work with providers that keep API request content confidential with protection no weaker than this policy. You can disable AI features at any time in Settings.

Automatic iCloud Backup (Optional)

When enabled, your data is automatically backed up to your private iCloud storage, a storage service provided by Apple. The developer cannot access this backup. You can turn this feature off at any time in Settings.

Manually Exported Backup Files

Files created with Export Backup are saved and managed in a location you choose. Keep them secure to prevent disclosure or loss.

System Permissions

Notifications: used to remind you when a plan begins.

Alarms (AlarmKit): used only for plans you set as alarms, providing a full-screen audible alert when they begin.

Live Activities / Dynamic Island: used to show timer progress on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. If companion-motion push is enabled, an APNs push token limited to that activity receives low-frequency state updates.

Location: accessed only while the app is in the foreground to request local current weather from Open-Meteo and adjust the sky background.

Files: used only when you choose to export or import a backup file.

You can turn off any of these permissions at any time in system Settings without affecting the app’s other basic features.

Deleting Data

Uninstalling the app deletes all data stored on the device. We recommend making a backup before uninstalling.

You can view and delete iCloud backups under iPhone Settings > Apple ID > iCloud.

Children’s Privacy

The app does not ask for age or identity information and does not collect children’s records. If the Live Activity push service is enabled, temporary activity data is handled as described in “Records and Temporary Live Activity Data.” If the weather feature is used, location data is handled as described in “Weather and Location Data.”

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated text will appear on this page and the app will prompt you to review it.
